Harvard Loeb House

17 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Loeb House at Harvard University offers the perfect setting for a variety of special events. Located at 17 Quincy Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the house is situated within the walls surrounding historic Harvard Yard directly accross the street from the Faculty Club and in walking distance from the Memorial Church, Widener Library and the Harvard Art Museums. For many years the residence of Harvard presidents, Loeb House today is the home of Harvard’s Governing Boards and their administrative offices. The first floor is decorated in the 19th century style, forming an elegant, light-filled backdrop for special occasions including weddings and reunions, as well as meetings and conferences. Flowering gardens and specimen trees surround the house and provide a lovely environment for any occasion.

Directions

From West of Boston

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) east to exit 18, Cambridge/Allston. This is a left exit. Bear right after the toll booth. Turn left after the lights--but before the bridge--onto Storrow Drive. Proceed about 1/2 mile to the Cambridge/ Harvard Square exit. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto JFK Street. Continue following directions under Harvard Square (below).

 

From South Boston

Take I-93 north to exit 26, Storrow Drive. Keep right on the exit ramp and take the underpass to Storrow Drive. Continue on Storrow Drive about 4 miles to the Cambridge/Harvard Square exit. Turn right onto JFK Street. Continue following directions under Harvard Square (below).

 

From North Boston

Take I-93 south to exit 26, Storrow Drive. Keep right at the end of the ramp and the take underpass to Storrow Drive. Continue on Storrow Drive about 4 miles to the Cambridge/Harvard Square exit. Turn right onto JFK Street. Continue following directions under Harvard Square (below).

 

From Northwest Boston

Take Route 2 East and follow it until the highway portion ends. Bear right, but do not take the T garage exit. Continue through the lights, remaining on Route 2. You should pass the T station/garage on your right. Go over the bridge. At the rotary, continue on Route 2 East by taking the second exit. At the next rotary, take the first exit, and continue on Route 2. After the large intersection with Mt. Auburn Street, watch for signs to Memorial Drive. You will have to bear left to get onto Memorial Drive. At the first light, turn left onto JFK Street. Continue following directions under Harvard Square (below).

Via the MBTA Subway

Take the Red Line to the Harvard Square station. Use the main exit, which is found at the far end of the platform (rear if heading outbound, front if inbound). Go upstairs and take a U-turn out of the exit. Walk up Massachusetts Avenue against the traffic. Quincy Street will be the first street on the left, several blocks up. Loeb House is located on the left side of the street, number 17.

 

Harvard Square

Continue through several sets of lights, and stay to the right as you are passing through Harvard Square. You should pass the Out of Town news stand on your left. After the next light, the road will fork. Bear right and go through the tunnel. The road will fork again. Bear right, then take the first right onto Quincy Street. Loeb House is located halfway up on the right hand side and is number 17.
